What is Life Coaching?

Life coaching is a relatively new profession that synthesizes the best concepts from athletics, business, psychology, philosophy, and spirituality. It has become a valuable tool for many people around the world who are looking to achieve great things while maintaining balance in their lives.

Life coaching is earning devotees among CEOs, entrepreneurs, professionals, people in career transition and those going through personal transition -- as well as individuals simply grappling with life issues.

One reason life coaching works is that a coach helps you stay in action. A coach is like a small voice saying. "Are you really doing what you want to do? What have you done this week to accomplish your goal?" A coach is your personal advocate, cheerleader and friend. Some clients have even described their coach as that perfect parent who beleives in you, supports you in your goals, and loves and accepts you unconditionally. Your coach helps you stay on track to reach your goals and dreams.

"A coach is someone who tells you what you don't want to hear, and has you see what you don't want to see, so you can be who you have always known you could be." - Tom Landry

  • How is Life Coaching different from ...
  • A Consultant:
A client-coach relationship is special: far more personal and broader in scope than with I consultant. A life coach is committed to all aspects of a client's life working well. Balance is important to real success. The client is the focus for the coach, not a specific problem at hand.
  • A Therapist:
Both professionals are concerned with improving their client's life: but having a life coach is not necessary in order for a client to function. A therapist works with a client to help them move from dysfunctional to functional. A life coach deals with a person who wants to go from having a functional life to having an extraordinary one.
  • A Counselor:
A life coach may sometimes counsel, but mostly is your partner. You do the work, you supply the insights and you determine what you will do. Your life coach really listens to what you're saying and guides you on the journey from where you are to where you want to be. A life coach gives you unconditional support, guidance and encouragement!
